John Deere 524234.04 – Transmission Control Module (PTQ, EPC, PTI, or PTR): Transmission Enable Sensor, Voltage Too Low
Issue description
The control software detects that the voltage at the transmission enable sensor has dropped below 0.3 volts for more than 960 milliseconds, indicating no enable pressure (pressure reading below 50 kPa / 0.5 bar / 7.3 psi). This indicates a circuit problem, a failed enable pressure sensor (B105), or a genuine condition where the transmission enable pressure is too low.

Check the cause
Visual Harness Inspection: Inspect the harness and connectors at the clutch enable solenoid and the enable pressure sensor (B105) for physical damage, loose connections, or corrosion.
Clutch Enable Pressure Test (255-15-013): Perform a manual pressure test. If the pressure stays at 0, check the harness connection at the clutch enable solenoid.
Electrical Testing: Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the transmission enable sensor. Verify if the circuit has a short to ground or an open wire causing the low voltage reading.
Verify Actual Pressure: Use mechanical diagnostic gauges to measure the actual hydraulic pressure to confirm if the system is genuinely experiencing underpressure or if the sensor is providing a false reading.
Repair steps
Locate Components
Identify the Transmission Enable Pressure Sensor (Component B105) and the Transmission Enable Solenoid Valve (Component Y38 or Y100) on the transmission housing.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal pulled wires or damaged connector pins (common from field debris), repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness. Ensure all connections are secure.
Replace Sensor
If the wiring is intact and the actual hydraulic pressure is verified to be normal, but the sensor voltage remains below 0.3V, remove and replace the defective Enable Pressure Sensor (B105).
Replace Solenoid
If the clutch enable solenoid is receiving proper voltage but failing to energize (causing 0 pressure at the sensor), replace the Transmission Enable Solenoid Valve.
Reset and Test
Restart the tractor to reset communication messages and clear the active diagnostic trouble code. Operate the transmission to monitor the enable pressure and ensure the code does not return.
