John Deere 524254.31 – ACU or UIC: Transmission Enable Relay Circuit Fault
Issue description
The control unit detects an incorrect voltage (either too high or too low) or a general problem with the circuit of the transmission enable relay, which may prevent the transmission from engaging to avoid potential malfunctions.

Check the cause
Perform a system reset: Ensure the PTO switch is OFF, cycle it OFF then ON, and restart the engine to reset communication messages
Locate the transmission enable relay (K06/03 or K02/03) in the fuse/relay load center
Measure voltage levels within the relay circuit using a multimeter to determine if they are within the specified range
Inspect the ground circuit (lead 6003) to verify it is properly connected, free of corrosion, and undamaged
Inspect the control lead circuit (lead 6064) for damage or corrosion
Check all wiring and connectors related to the transmission enable relay for signs of damage, wear, or loose connections
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and ensure the PTO switch is in the OFF position.
Remove the cover to access the main fuse and relay load center.
Locate the Transmission Enable Relay (K06/03 or K02/03).
Remove the relay and test it for proper operation using a multimeter or relay tester. If the relay is found to be defective or degraded, replace it with a new one.
If the relay tests good, trace the ground circuit (lead 6003) and control lead circuit (lead 6064). Repair any chafed wires, broken connections, or degraded electrical components.
Clean any corrosion from the relay socket and harness connectors to ensure the power supply and grounding connections are secure.
Reinstall the relay (or install the replacement), replace the load center cover, and restart the tractor.
Retest the circuit to ensure that the voltage levels are now correct and stable, and verify that the fault code has cleared.
Parts you might need
(1)Transmission Enable Relay (10/20 Amp 5-pin micro relay)
Circuit designation K06/03 or K02/03. Check specific machine's load center diagram to confirm exact relay location.
