PTR: The control unit detected an attempt to perform a directional shuttle shift while the tractor's wheel speed was too high. PTP: The control unit detected that the C or D clutches are slipping beyond the established service limit.

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): Confirm with the operator if they are attempting to shuttle shift without bringing the tractor to a safe, low speed or complete stop.

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): If the operator was completely stopped when the code triggered, use a diagnostic tool to monitor the live wheel speed sensor data for false high-speed readings.

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): Check the wiring harness leading to the transmission and wheel speed sensors for shorts, chafing, or corrosion.

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Ensure the operator is not resting their foot on the clutch pedal (riding the clutch) during operation, causing partial engagement.

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Verify that the transmission fluid is at the correct level and in good condition.

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Ensure hydraulic pressure to the C and D clutches is within the specified OEM range to allow proper engagement.

   Clear the Code

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): Stop the vehicle, return the gear selector to Neutral or Park, and cycle the key switch to clear the code and attempt system recovery.

   Operator Correction

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): Instruct the operator to slow down to acceptable parameters before utilizing the forward/reverse shuttle lever.

   Sensor Replacement

   For PTR (Shuttle Shift): If diagnostic checks proved the wheel speed sensor is outputting erratic/false high-speed readings while stationary, replace the speed sensor and clear the codes.

   Clear the Code

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Stop the vehicle, shift to Neutral/Park, and cycle the key.

   Split Transmission

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): If the code returns immediately and fluid levels/pressures are fine, the transmission must be split to access the clutch packs.

   Inspect Clutches

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Inspect the C Clutch (CC) and D Clutch (DC) friction plates and steel separators for burning, scoring, or excessive wear.

   Replace Clutch Discs

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Replace the worn clutch discs.

8. 8

   Refill and Calibrate

   For PTP (Clutch Slipping): Refill the system with approved transmission fluid and perform a transmission clutch calibration using John Deere Service ADVISOR.
