John Deere 524267.16 – PTQ / PTP / PTD / CCU: Transmission clutch is partially engaged or slipping for an extended period

The control software detects that the oil pressure at the forward clutch exceeds 12 bar (1200 kPa; 174 psi) and the slip exceeds 5% for more than 3 seconds. When this error is detected, the control software may limit or disable transmission functions to prevent further damage.

   Ensure the operator's foot is not resting on the clutch pedal during operation, which can artificially cause the slipping code

   Shift the transmission to Neutral or Park, and cycle the key switch to attempt a vehicle system recovery and see if the code returns

   Verify that the transmission fluid level is correct and that the fluid is in good condition (not contaminated or degraded)

   Check the transmission oil circuit for blockages, restrictions, or leaks

   Use diagnostic tools to monitor the temperature of the clutch elements and verify that the control unit is processing pressure and slip signals properly

   Perform a diagnostic test on the proportional solenoid valve to ensure it is not stuck or electrically faulty.

   Fluid Maintenance

   If the transmission fluid is degraded or contaminated, drain and replace the fluid. Replace the transmission oil filter if it is restricted.

   Repair the Oil Circuit

   Repair or replace any damaged hydraulic lines or components in the oil circuit that are causing pressure drops or leaks.

   Replace the Solenoid Valve

   If the diagnostic test reveals a defective proportional solenoid valve, remove and replace it.

   Inspect and Rebuild the Clutch Assembly

   If hydraulic pressure is correct but the clutch continues to slip, physically inspect the forward clutch assembly (or the specific AB/BC/CC/DC clutch elements depending on the transmission model) for signs of wear, burnt discs, or mechanical damage.

   Repair or replace any worn or faulty components within the clutch assembly.
