John Deere 5571.05 – ECU: High Resistance in Circuit for Fuel Rail Pressure Surge Relief Valve
Issue description
This code indicates that the electrical resistance in the fuel rail pressure relief valve circuit is too high, which typically points to an open circuit. When this occurs, the controller cannot properly manage fuel pressure, and the system may limit or adjust the operation of the fuel system (derate) to ensure safe engine operation.

Check the cause
Visual Wiring Inspection: Check for damaged, frayed, or loose wiring and connectors associated with the fuel rail pressure surge relief valve circuit.
Circuit Continuity Test: Use a multimeter to check for open circuits or discontinuities in the wiring harness between the ECU and the relief valve.
Electrical Supply Verification: Ensure that the electrical supply to the fuel rail pressure surge relief valve is stable and within specifications.
Valve Resistance Test: Test the fuel rail pressure surge relief valve itself for proper resistance and continuity.
Physical Leak Test (Mechanical Check): Remove the fuel return/drain line from the top of the relief valve and run the engine. If any fuel flows out of the valve during normal operation, the valve is no longer sealing properly and must be replaced.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken wire or corroded connector, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.
Replace the Valve
If the wiring is intact but the valve fails the resistance test or leaks fuel during the physical test, replace the Fuel Rail Pressure Relief Valve. Note: Ensure the engine is off and the high-pressure fuel system has depressurized before opening the fuel lines. Remove the fuel drain line from the valve. Unplug the electrical connector. Unthread the old valve from the fuel rail and install the new one to OEM torque specifications. Reconnect the fuel drain line and electrical connector.
Prime the System
Fill and prime the fuel system to remove any air introduced during the repair.
Reset and Verify
Reset the ECU to clear the 005571.05 fault code. Run the engine and monitor the system to ensure normal operation and that desired fuel rail pressures are being met.
