5571.06

John Deere 5571.06 – ECU: Fuel Rail Pressure Relief Solenoid Low Resistance

Issue description

This code indicates that the circuit resistance for the fuel rail pressure surge relief valve (or pressure limiter) is too low. A low resistance condition typically points to a short circuit to ground within the wiring or an internal short inside the solenoid/valve itself. When this occurs, the ECU may limit or adjust the operation of the fuel system to manage the fault and ensure safe engine operation, often resulting in a derate or loss of power.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the fuel rail pressure surge relief valve for melted insulation, chafing, or pinched wires shorting to the engine block or chassis ground.

  2. Use a digital multimeter (DMM) to check the circuit for continuity to ground on the harness side to identify wiring shorts.

  3. Measure the internal resistance of the fuel rail pressure relief solenoid itself to check for an internal short (resistance below OEM specification).

  4. Verify that the electrical supply voltage to the valve is stable and within specifications.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

Turn the machine off and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Repair wiring

If diagnostic tests revealed a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire or replace the affected connector pigtail.

  3. Replace the relief valve

If the valve failed the resistance test: Clean the area around the fuel rail, relieve residual fuel pressure, unplug the electrical connector, unthread the faulty valve, and install the new valve torqued to exact OEM specification (do not over-tighten).

  4. Reassemble and prime

Reconnect the electrical harness and battery, then prime the fuel system to remove any introduced air.

  5. Reset ECU

Use a diagnostic scan tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to clear the 005571.06 fault code.

  6. Test run

Start the engine and monitor the fuel rail pressure parameters to ensure the system is operating normally and the code does not return.
