Issue description
The control unit has detected a malfunction in the front differential lock solenoid driver or its electrical circuit. Check the cause
Cycle the differential lock / 4WD switch to see if the code clears, as it may be a temporary glitch.
Visually inspect the front differential lock solenoid and its associated wiring harness for visible damage, corrosion, broken wires, or unusual wear.
Disconnect the solenoid and use a multimeter to check the resistance of the solenoid coil (an infinite reading indicates an internally open/blown coil).
Check for continuity, voltage irregularities, and resistance in the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the CCU pins to rule out a broken wire or chafed harness shorting to the chassis.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the front differential lock solenoid valve (typically mounted on the front axle housing or the transmission/hydraulic valve block, depending on the specific tractor series).
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid
If the coil tested bad, remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem and slide the coil off. If the entire valve is leaking or mechanically seized, unthread the entire solenoid valve cartridge from the manifold block.
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut (or thread in the new valve cartridge and torque to OEM specifications).
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the solenoid tested fine but the harness was damaged, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the broken wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink connectors.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery. Start the tractor, clear the CCU fault codes, and conduct an operational test by engaging and disengaging the front differential lock to ensure the system functions properly.
