Issue description
Indicates a data transfer problem on the CAN bus between the Engine Control Unit and the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) temperature module. Because the ECU is unable to receive data from the SCR temperature module, it cannot accurately monitor and control the emissions system, which often results in the ECU limiting engine power (derating) to ensure emissions compliance.

Check the cause
Inspect CAN Bus Wiring: Check for damaged, frayed, or loose wiring associated with the CAN bus between the ECU and the SCR temperature module.
Check Connections: Verify that all connections between the ECU and the SCR temperature module are secure, fully seated, and free of corrosion.
Test CAN Bus Communication: Use a diagnostic tool (such as John Deere Service Advisor) to test the CAN bus communication to the SCR temperature module to ensure there are no data transfer interruptions.
Verify Module Function: Ensure that the SCR temperature module itself is functioning correctly and is capable of sending data.
Repair steps
Resolve Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks reveal broken wires or corroded connectors on the CAN bus line, repair or replace the affected harness sections.
Remove the Faulty Module
If the wiring is intact and the module has failed, disconnect the electrical connector from the SCR Temperature Module. Carefully remove the sensor probes from the exhaust filter.
Prepare the New Sensors
Apply an anti-seize compound (such as NEVER-SEEZ) to the threads of the new sensor probes prior to installation.
Install the New Module
Install the new sensor probes into the exhaust filter (DOC Inlet). Tighten the M12 Exhaust Filter Temperature Sensors to the specified torque of 35 N·m (26 lb.-ft.). Mount the module and reconnect the electrical harness.
Reset the ECU
After resolving the issue, use a diagnostic tool to reset the ECU, clear the fault code, and monitor the system to ensure normal operation.
