   Cycle Power: Turn the ignition switch off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on to see if the system reinitializes and clears the code.

   Verify Software Versions: Using John Deere Service ADVISOR, check the current software payload versions installed on both the XMC and XSC control units.

   Check for Updates: Check the manufacturer's database for the latest software releases for the specific tractor's chassis PIN to confirm which module is out of date.

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Download software payload

   Download the latest software payload for the XMC (Steering System Control Unit) and XSC (AutoTrac Supervisor Control Unit) from the John Deere Custom Performance website or Service ADVISOR database.

   Flash/update software

   Flash/update the XMC control software so that it matches the XSC control software version.

   Reboot system

   Once the flash is complete, reboot the system by cycling the key switch.

   Clear diagnostic code

   Clear the stored 000609.12 diagnostic trouble code.

   Test drive

   Perform a brief test drive to ensure AutoTrac™ engages properly and no further codes are generated.
