John Deere 613.03 – ECU: Voltage Too High For High Pressure Fuel Pump Solenoid (ECU)

The engine controller has detected an abnormally high voltage in the circuit that drives the high-pressure fuel pump solenoid (SCV), indicating a short to a 12-volt power source or an internal failure within the solenoid.

   Examine the wiring harness running from the ECU to the high-pressure fuel pump solenoid for melted wires, chafing against the engine block, or pinched areas.

   Disconnect the engine harness connectors at the ECU and the solenoid to inspect for oil intrusion, moisture, or corrosion.

   Using a multimeter, test the signal wire for continuity and check for a short to voltage (12V).

   Test the resistance of the High Pressure Fuel Pump Solenoid to determine if the internal coil has failed or shorted.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the machine's battery before performing any electrical repairs to prevent further damage to the ECU.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic tests reveal a short to voltage in the harness, repair the damaged section of the wiring. In cases where wires have melted together or the short cannot be isolated, run a new overlay signal wire between the ECU connector and the solenoid connector.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the wiring tests perfectly but the fault remains active, the internal coil of the solenoid has likely failed. Remove the faulty Suction Control Valve / High Pressure Fuel Pump Solenoid from the high-pressure fuel pump assembly and install the replacement part.

   Reassemble and Clean

   Reconnect all harnesses. Ensure any connectors that had oil intrusion are thoroughly cleaned with contact cleaner and dried before reattachment.

   Reset and Verify

   Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the stored 000613.03 fault code and reset the ECU. Start the engine and verify that fuel pressure operates normally and the code does not return.
