John Deere 628.02 – AIC: End of Line (EOL) Data Fault or Internal Control Unit Fault
Issue description
The control software has encountered an error when reading the internal memory module (EEPROM) during the boot-up sequence, meaning there is an internal fault with the module's software configuration or stored data.

Check the cause
Perform a power cycle by turning the ignition key off, waiting for the modules to power down completely, and turning the key back on to clear temporary boot-up glitches.
Verify the power supply to the AIC. Inspect the battery, alternator, and cab load center fuses for voltage drops below 9.0V or spikes above 18.0V.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (e.g., X653 and X654) leading to the Armrest Control Unit for corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage.
Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR to check if the module is stuck in programming mode or if a software update is available to patch the EEPROM reading issue.
Repair steps
Attempt Software Reset/Update
Using John Deere Service ADVISOR, attempt to re-flash or update the firmware on the Armrest Interface Control Unit (AIC).
Disconnect Power
If the software update fails or the EEPROM is permanently corrupted, power down the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the Defective AIC
Access the CommandARM console. Disconnect the electrical connectors linking the AIC to the CAN/LIN bus, SCV levers, and throttle controls. Remove the mounting hardware and extract the faulty Armrest Control Unit.
Install the New Module
Seat the replacement AIC into the armrest console and securely reconnect all wiring harnesses.
Calibrate the New Module
Reconnect the battery. Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR and program the new AIC to the tractor's specific configuration. You must also perform calibration procedures for the SCV levers, throttle, and hitch controls routed through the new armrest module.
