   Power Cycle the Tractor: Turn the ignition key switch OFF, wait 30 seconds for the modules to power down completely, and turn it back ON. Many 000628.12 codes are temporary boot glitches that clear after a hard reset.

   Check Power Supply: Verify that the affected module (PTF or EIC) is receiving a stable and adequate power supply (12V+). Inspect the battery terminals, alternator output, and the specific module's wiring harness for corrosion or loose grounds. Voltage drops during cranking can cause a module to fail its boot sequence.

   Verify Software Integrity: Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR to check if the module is stuck in an active software payload update.

   Restart and Clear

   Cycle the tractor's key switch. If the code moves from 'Active' to 'Stored,' clear the code and test-operate the tractor to see if it returns.

   Reprogram the Module

   If the code remains active and the module is stuck in 'Programming Mode,' use John Deere Service ADVISOR to re-flash/reprogram the affected control unit (PTF or EIC) with the latest compatible software version.

   Inspect Wiring

   Disconnect the harness from the suspect module. Inspect the pins for pushed-out connectors, moisture intrusion, or corrosion. Clean with contact cleaner and reconnect.

   Replace the Module

   If Service ADVISOR cannot communicate with the module to reprogram it, or if the reprogramming fails repeatedly, the module has suffered a fatal internal hardware failure and must be replaced.

   End of Line (EOL) Calibration

   If a new module is installed, it must be calibrated and programmed to the tractor's specific VIN/configuration using Service ADVISOR.
