Check the cause
Inspect the affected control unit for obvious signs of damage, such as burnt components, loose connections, or corrosion.
Ensure all connectors to the module are properly seated and free of debris.
Visually inspect around the batteries and alternator for any signs of damage, voltage irregularities, or accumulated debris.
Check relevant fuses (e.g., Fuse F29 is specifically noted for SCO 000629.12 faults).
Restart the tractor/cycle the key switch to see if the code is a temporary glitch.
Repair steps
Hard Reset
Disconnect the power supply to the affected control unit for a few minutes, then reconnect it to clear any temporary faults.
Software Update/Reprogramming
Verify that the control unit software is up-to-date. If an ECU EEPROM error is present, a dealer must save any snapshot information and attempt to reprogram the ECU.
Module Replacement
If the issue persists after a hard reset and reprogramming, the control unit has suffered a fatal internal hardware failure and cannot be repaired. It must be replaced by a John Deere dealer to restore full functionality.
