Check the cause
Restart the tractor/machine to see if the code clears on startup and check the digital display for any other active diagnostic trouble codes.
Inspect the affected control unit (ECU, TCU, or CCU) for obvious signs of physical damage, burnt components, moisture ingress, or corrosion.
Ensure all wiring harness connectors to the module are properly seated, tight, and free of debris or bent pins.
Perform a hard reset by disconnecting the power supply (battery cables) to the control unit for a few minutes, then reconnecting it to clear temporary software glitches.
Repair steps
Software Update/Reprogramming
Connect the machine to John Deere Service ADVISOR. Verify if the control unit software is up-to-date. Reprogram or flash the ECU/module with the latest software to address potential corruption.
Module Replacement
If reprogramming fails or the module is physically damaged/unresponsive, the control unit has suffered a fatal internal failure and must be replaced.
Validation
After installing the new module, program it to the machine using Service ADVISOR.
Clear Codes
Reset the system to clear any residual fault codes and validate that all functions operate correctly across expected conditions.
Parts you might need
(1)Engine Control Unit (ECU), Transmission Control Unit (TCU), or Chassis Control Unit (CCU)
Look up the exact part number using the machine's specific Product Identification Number (PIN) / Serial Number in the John Deere Parts Catalog, as modules are highly specific to the machine's configuration. New modules will also require dealer programming upon installation.
