John Deere 639.12 – Cab Suspension Controller (CSC): Vehicle CAN Bus, High Error Rate / CAN Message Overflow
Issue description
The reporting controller has received an excessively high number of incorrect CAN Bus messages or has lost communication with the network entirely. This points to a general communication failure on the Vehicle CAN Bus (typically operating at 500 kBd), usually caused by faulty wiring, poor connections, or electromagnetic interference.

Check the cause
Inspect the CAN Bus wiring harness leading to the CSC for chafing, pinched wires, or open circuits
Disconnect the CSC harness and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent terminals
With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins (should read approximately 60 ohms; 120 ohms indicates a faulty terminating resistor or open circuit)
Verify that the CSC is receiving proper battery voltage and has a clean ground connection
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the machine's battery to protect the network.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or corroded connectors at the CSC, repair or replace the affected harness sections.
Replace the Module
If the wiring, power, ground, and terminating resistors all test within specification, the CSC module has likely suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.
Install New CSC
Mount the new Cab Suspension Controller and reconnect the harness.
Software & Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Using a diagnostic tool (such as John Deere Service Advisor or Jaltest AGV), upload the latest software configuration to the new CSC. You must then perform a mandatory calibration of the cab suspension system to restore proper shock absorber ram fluid levels and operator comfort.
Parts you might need
(1)Cab Suspension Controller / Electronic Control Unit (SCU3 / CSC + SFA Control)
AL162294Older superseded numbers include AL154758 and AL159384. Fits various 6000 series and 6R series tractors equipped with cab suspension. The module is blank from the factory and requires dealer-level software flashing and calibration upon installation.
