Issue description
Communication between the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and the turbocharger actuator controller has been lost, and the Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) actuator has detected an internal fault. When this disruption occurs, the ECU may limit or disable turbocharger functionality to prevent engine damage and ensure safe operation.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the ECU and the VGT actuator for any signs of damage, disconnection, or corrosion
Verify the integrity of the CAN Bus communication system to ensure proper data transmission between the ECU and the VGT actuator
Ensure the mechanical components of the turbocharger (such as the variable vanes) are not seized and are functioning properly
Test the VGT actuator for internal faults that may have caused the communication failure
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the machine's battery to ensure electrical safety.
Disconnect wiring harness
Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty VGT actuator.
Remove defective actuator

Install replacement actuator

Reconnect wiring harness
