Check the cause

  1. Verify recent service: Determine if the fuel injector in cylinder #2 was recently replaced but not programmed into the ECU.

  2. Inspect the injector: Locate cylinder #2 and inspect the physical electronic fuel injector. Record the part number, serial number, and the calibration/trim code (often a 30-digit code or a QR code) from the identification tag.

  3. Scan tool verification: Connect a compatible diagnostic scan tool to view the current calibration code stored in the ECU for cylinder #2. Compare the ECU's stored code against the physical code written on the injector.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR (or a compatible aftermarket tool like TEXA or Jaltest) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to Calibrations

Go to the 'Tests and Calibrations' tab and select 'Injector Calibration'.

  3. Enter the Trim Code

Select cylinder #2 and click the 'Change Information' tab. Manually input the correct injector part number, serial number, and calibration trim code exactly as it appears on the physical injector.

  4. Save and Verify

Save the new calibration data to the ECU. Clear the 000652.02 fault code.

  5. Test Run

Cycle the key, start the engine, and verify that the code does not return and the engine runs smoothly.

  6. Injector Replacement (If Necessary)

If the code cannot be cleared because the injector itself has failed internally or the identification tag is illegible/damaged, the injector must be replaced. Remove the old injector, install the new one following OEM torque and cleanliness specifications, and then perform steps 1-4 to program the new injector's trim code into the ECU.
