John Deere 652.18 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Number 2 Error / Fuel Injector #2 Flow Very Low / Injector #2 Not Responding

This code is triggered when the control module detects that the fuel flow from injection valve #2 is lower than expected, or the injector is failing to respond to command signals. This condition leads to improper fuel delivery, which can cause hard starting, rough idling, engine misfires, loss of power, abnormal exhaust smoke, and excessive fuel consumption.

   Verify the fuel tank level and check for low fuel pressure

   Drain the fuel filters to ensure there is no water or contamination in the fuel

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to Injector #2 for frayed wires, corrosion, loose pins, or a poor ECU ground

   Perform a continuity and resistance test on the Injector #2 circuit to rule out electrical shorts or open circuits

   Use John Deere Service Advisor to verify that the correct injector QR code/part number data is calibrated in the ECU for cylinder #2

   Address fuel quality

   If bad fuel or contamination is found, drain the system, replace the fuel filters, and perform a fuel injector flush. Clear the code and test run the engine.

   Repair wiring

   If the continuity test fails, repair or replace the damaged section of the injector wiring harness.

   Replace the injector

   If the wiring is intact, fuel pressure is normal, and the injector still does not respond or flow properly, Injector #2 has mechanically failed and must be replaced. (Note: It is highly recommended by fuel system specialists to replace injectors as a complete set to ensure even atomization and prevent engine vibrations or returning codes).

   ECU Calibration

   After installing the new injector(s), you must use John Deere Service Advisor to program the new injector's unique calibration QR code into the Engine ECU. Failing to do so will result in poor performance and immediate calibration fault codes.
