Issue description

The control unit measures less than 1.7 bar (24.6 psi) at the signal input for the refrigerant pressure sensor (B130, lead 2019). This indicates that either the A/C system is physically low on refrigerant (due to a leak), or the sensor/wiring is failing and sending an inaccurately low reading. The control unit typically disables the A/C compressor clutch when this code is active.

Check the cause

  1. Connect A/C manifold gauges to the high and low side service ports to check static refrigerant pressure. If below 24.6 psi (1.7 bar), the system has a leak (low refrigerant cause).

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the B130 Refrigerant Pressure Sensor (lead 2019) for broken wires, loose connections, or corroded terminals (wiring fault cause).

  3. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the sensor input to ensure it is receiving the proper 5-volt reference and ground from the ATC module (electrical supply cause).

  4. Use a diagnostic tool to view live data for the B130 sensor and compare it to the physical manifold gauge reading. If gauges show normal pressure but the sensor reads low, the sensor is faulty (sensor fault cause).

Repair steps

  1. Address low refrigerant

    Use a refrigerant sniffer or UV dye to locate the leak in the A/C system. Repair the leak (e.g., replace leaking O-rings, hoses, or the evaporator/condenser). Evacuate the A/C system using a vacuum pump to remove moisture. Recharge the system with the exact weight of R134a refrigerant specified on the tractor's A/C decal.

  2. Repair wiring

    Repair any open circuits or damaged pins on lead 2019. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

  3. Replace B130 sensor

    Check if the sensor port has a Schrader valve. If it does not, recover the system refrigerant before removing the sensor. Disconnect the electrical connector, unthread the old sensor, lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with a drop of PAG oil, and thread it into place. Reconnect the electrical harness. If refrigerant was recovered, evacuate and recharge the system.

  4. Clear codes

    Connect the diagnostic tool, clear the ATC 000871.13 fault code, and run the tractor to verify the A/C compressor engages and cools the cab.
