John Deere 000923.00 – ATC: M07/M10 Fan Motor, Current Overload Protection Active at Power Module (HF) PC6
Issue description
This diagnostic trouble code is triggered if the power module (HF) PC6 measures a total amperage in excess of 40 amps at one of the fan motor outputs (B1 and/or C3). This excessive current draw indicates a short to ground in the wiring harness or a defective component, such as a seized or failing blower motor, in one of the monitored circuits.

Check the cause
Access the cab roof/HVAC unit and perform a visual inspection of the fan motors (M07 and M10) and the driver unit for the fan motors (A59) for signs of physical damage, heavy dirt accumulation, or debris that could be causing the fan to bind and draw excessive amperage.
Inspect the electrical connections at the fan motors and the power module for bad, loose, widened, slid-back, or corroded contacts.
Perform a circuit test on the wiring harness for Fan Motors M07 and M10 to check for a short to ground.
Connect a compatible OBD-II diagnostic tool or John Deere Service Advisor to read the live data and confirm the amperage spike.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shock or further damage to the ATC module.
Access the HVAC unit
Remove the cab roof paneling to access the main cab blower motor assembly (M07/M10).
Test the motors
Disconnect the wiring harness from the blower motors. Manually spin the blower wheels to check for mechanical binding. Use a multimeter to test the internal resistance of the motors; a dead short indicates a failed motor.
Repair wiring
If the motors test fine but the harness showed a short to ground during diagnostics, locate the chafed or melted wire in the harness leading to outputs B1/C3 on the PC6 module and repair it.
Replace the blower motor
If a motor is drawing excessive current, remove the mounting screws, extract the old blower motor assembly, and install the new OEM replacement.
Reassemble and clear codes
Reconnect the wiring harness, reinstall the cab roof paneling, and reconnect the battery. Use your diagnostic tool to clear the ATC 000923.00 error code from the control unit. Run the HVAC system to verify the repair.
