John Deere 94.16 – ECU: Low Pressure Fuel Sensor Voltage High (ECU)

The voltage signal from the low-pressure fuel sensor is moderately higher than expected. This can be caused by an electrical issue within the sensor/circuit or a mechanical condition where the fuel supply pressure in the low-pressure circuit is reading higher than expected (such as a restriction in the fuel return line or a faulty fuel pressure regulator). The ECU may derate engine power to protect the fuel injection system.

   Inspect the low-pressure fuel sensor and its wiring harness for chafing, corrosion, or a short-to-voltage that could artificially drive the signal high.

   Check the fuel return line for any kinks, blockages, or restrictions that would cause the actual low-pressure fuel supply to spike.

   Test the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump for operational integrity and accuracy.

   Verify CIU 2016

   Cross-reference the machine's serial number with the CIU 2016 Improvement Program to see if a software update or manufacturer recall applies to your specific machine.

   Clear Restrictions

   If no electrical short is found in the harness, disconnect and inspect the fuel return lines. Clear any blockages to ensure fuel can return to the tank freely.

   Replace the Sensor/Regulator

   If the wiring is intact and there are no mechanical line restrictions, the fault is likely a failed low-pressure fuel sensor or a stuck fuel pressure regulator. Replace the faulty component.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect all harnesses, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the ECU 000094.16 code.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and monitor the low-pressure fuel sensor voltage data stream to ensure it remains within the normal operating range.
