   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the hand throttle potentiometer (B96/B78) for signs of physical damage, loose pins, or corrosion.

   Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the signal input lead (e.g., lead 6018 or 6077) and confirm if the voltage is resting below the 0.3V-0.5V threshold.

   Inspect the circuit for any signs of shorting to ground or an open circuit in the signal wire.

   Ensure that the 5-volt reference supply voltage to the potentiometer is within the correct range and that the ground connection is secure.

   Use a diagnostic tool or multimeter to sweep the hand throttle and observe if the voltage scales smoothly (typically 0.5V to 4.5V over the entire range); dead spots or voltage dropouts indicate a defective sensor.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground before servicing electrical components to prevent accidental shorts.
