Kubota E:005 – Meter Panel / Display Controller: The temperature of the coolant is higher than normal (Engine Overheating)
Issue description
The engine coolant has exceeded the safe operating threshold, putting the engine at risk of thermal damage.

Check the cause
Perform an immediate operational check: if the code appears while working, do not shut the engine off immediately, as the coolant could boil over. Allow the machine to cool off by idling with no load.
Check the coolant level in the radiator and the expansion tank. Inspect the water pump shaft seal and thermostat housing for visible leaks.
Inspect the radiator and oil cooler fins for clogging from dust, mud, or debris (a highly common cause of E:005).
Inspect the radiator cap for damage or a degraded seal. A bad cap lowers the boiling point of the coolant.
Check the engine oil dipstick. Low engine oil can contribute to excessive engine heat.
Check the V-belt/fan belt for proper tension and condition.
Feel the upper radiator hose once the engine is warm. If the hose remains cold while the engine is overheating, the thermostat is likely stuck closed.
Test the coolant temperature sensor using a multimeter. Measure the resistance (ohms) across the sensor terminal and the chassis. If it reads an open circuit or values out of specification for the ambient temperature, the sensor is faulty.
Repair steps
Clean the Radiator
Wear eye protection. Use compressed air to blow out the radiator and oil cooler fins. Crucial OEM Warning: The pressure of the compressed air must be kept under 205 kPa (30 psi / 2.1 kgf/cm²) to avoid bending or damaging the delicate cooling fins.
Replace the Water Pump & Thermostat
Drain the engine coolant completely. Remove the cooling fan, fan belt, and disconnect the upper/lower radiator hoses. Unbolt the thermostat housing and the water pump assembly from the engine block. Thoroughly clean the mounting surfaces on the engine block to ensure the new gaskets will seal properly. Install the new water pump and thermostat using new graphite gaskets. Torque the bolts to the engine's specific factory specifications. Reinstall the hoses, fan, and belt. Refill the radiator with fresh coolant and bleed the system of air.
Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor
Locate the sensor (typically a brass, hex-headed component threaded into the water jacket/thermostat housing area near the top of the engine). Disconnect the sealed electrical connector. Use a standard spanner/wrench to unthread the old sensor. Thread in the new sensor (do not over-tighten brass threads) and plug the harness back in.
