Kubota E:009 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Acceleration System (Hand or Foot) Failure
Issue description
The system has detected a break, short, or sensor failure in the accelerator dial or pedal circuit. The accelerator fails and engine output is limited to a low idling RPM, though other hydraulic and drive functions remain operative.

Check the cause
Inspect the under-cab wiring harness for physical damage, particularly rodent damage, which is the most common cause of this code
Check the electrical connector at the accelerator pedal and hand dial for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion
Use a multimeter to test the accelerator sensor circuit for continuity, shorts to ground, or breaks between the sensor connector and the ECU harness
Repair steps
Prepare the Machine
Park the machine on a flat surface, lower the lift arms (or engage the lift arm stopper if they must be raised), and turn off the engine.
Access the Components
Unbolt and tilt the operator cab backward and secure it using the safety lock mechanism to gain access to the pedal linkages and wiring harnesses.
Repair Wiring
If chewed or broken wires are found leading to the accelerator sensor, cut out the damaged section and splice in new wiring using weatherproof heat-shrink butt connectors.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact, locate the accelerator pedal assembly or hand dial sensor. Disconnect the electrical pigtail, remove the mounting bolts securing the assembly to the floorboard/console, install the new OEM sensor/pedal assembly, tighten the hardware, and reconnect the electrical harness.
Reassembly
Lower the cab carefully and bolt it securely back into place.
Test
Start the machine. The E:009 code should clear automatically, and full throttle control should be restored.
