Kubota E-43 – Engine ECU / Meter Panel: ECU communication trouble or meter communication trouble
Issue description
There is a communication failure or loss of signal between the machine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the meter panel (instrument cluster) or other networked components.
Applies to these machines

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness connectors at both the ECU and the back of the meter panel for broken, loose, or corroded pins.
Inspect the tractor's fuse box for any blown fuses related to the ECU, meter panel, or communication bus.
Test the communication lines (CAN High / CAN Low) between the ECU and the meter panel for open circuits, short circuits to ground, or high resistance.
Ensure no malfunctioning sensors are shorting out the 5V reference circuit, which can pull down the communication network.
Connect the Kubota Diagmaster software to the diagnostic port to verify if the ECU can be communicated with directly. If the scanner can talk to the ECU but the meter panel is blank or flashing E-43, the meter panel or its wiring is likely the culprit.
Repair steps
Turn Off the Machine
Ensure the tractor's engine is turned off and the key is removed before disconnecting any modules.
Repair Wiring/Fuses
If a blown fuse or broken wire was found during diagnostics, repair the wire or replace the fuse.
Replace Faulty Module
If wiring and power/ground are intact, replace the faulty component (either the Meter Panel or the ECU, depending on which failed the diagnostic tests).
Clear the Error Code
Use the Kubota Diagmaster tool to clear the DTCs. Alternatively, on equipped models, perform a manual reset: while holding down both the 'DPF INHIBIT' switch and the 'parked regeneration' switch, turn the key to the 'ON' position. When the mode selection displays on the LCD, press the parked regeneration switch to change the mode. If 'A' is indicated, hold the switch for more than 2 seconds to enter test mode. Turn the key off to finish and reset.
Restart and Verify
Restart the engine and verify that the meter panel functions normally and the E-43 code does not return.
