E-62

Kubota E-62 – GST (Glide Shift Transmission) ECU: Solenoid 2 is in trouble (At forward or neutral)

Issue description

There is a communication, electrical, or mechanical failure involving Shift Solenoid 2 on the transmission valve block. When this code is triggered, the transmission enters a fail-safe mode: the physical gearshift lever will remain in its current position, but the transmission ECU will automatically force the tractor into an operable default speed range or neutral to prevent internal damage.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the white wire and its connector at the GST valve block for corrosion, chafing, or a disconnected plug.

  2. Unplug Solenoid 2 and use a multimeter to check the resistance across the solenoid coil. An open circuit (infinite resistance) or a dead short indicates a burned-out solenoid.

  3. Turn the key to the ON position and probe the harness side of the connector to ensure the GST ECU is sending the proper input voltage to the solenoid.

  4. Check the GST valve body for contaminated transmission fluid. Debris in the hydraulic fluid can cause the solenoid pintle to stick, throwing a circuit/performance code even if the electrical coil is fine.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and allow the transmission to cool.

  2. Locate the GST Valve

Locate the GST valve block assembly on the transmission housing.

  3. Disconnect Electrical

Find Solenoid 2 (look for the White wire) and disconnect its electrical harness.

  4. Remove the Solenoid

Remove the mounting bolts (typically 8mm bolts) holding the solenoid to the GST valve block.

  5. Clean the Area

Carefully pull the solenoid out. Catch any residual hydraulic fluid with a shop towel. Ensure no dirt enters the exposed valve body.

  6. Install New Solenoid

Lubricate the new O-rings on the replacement solenoid with fresh Kubota Super UDT2 hydraulic fluid. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block.

  7. Reassembly

Torque the mounting bolts to OEM spec, reconnect the electrical connector, and replace the GST valve gasket if the entire block was removed.

  8. Test

Start the tractor. The IntelliPanel should clear the ERROR-62 code. Test drive the tractor in forward and neutral to ensure smooth shifting.
