Kubota E:9006 – Engine ECU: Requirement for DPF regeneration
Issue description
This code indicates that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) has reached a soot accumulation level that requires regeneration, but the system is unable to start the auto-regeneration process because the DPF Inhibit Switch is currently activated.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- SSV65
- SSV75
- SVL65-2
- SVL75-2
- SVL90-2
- SVL95-2s
- SVL97-2
- SVL110-3
Check the cause
Check the DPF Inhibit Switch on the side console to verify if it was accidentally bumped or intentionally left in the 'Inhibit' (locked) position.
Look for a blinking yellow regeneration request light on the dash.
Test switch functionality to see if it is stuck, shorted, or internally broken (if toggled off but dash still indicates regeneration is inhibited).
Check engine RPM and temperature, as auto-regeneration requires the engine to be running at a sufficient speed (typically over 1800 RPM) and at operating temperature.
Repair steps
Relocate the Machine
Move the skid steer to a safe, well-ventilated outdoor location. Ensure there are no people, animals, plants, or flammable materials within the immediate working area, as exhaust temperatures will become extremely high.
Release the Inhibit Switch
Turn off the DPF Inhibit Switch on the console.
Elevate RPM
Increase the engine RPM to the required working level (above 1800 RPM) until the machine automatically initiates the DPF regeneration.
Allow Cycle to Complete
Do not touch the controls, lower the RPM, or shut off the engine while the regeneration cycle is running. Wait for the regeneration indicator to turn off.
Replace Faulty Switch (If Applicable)
If the switch is physically broken or fails to release the inhibit command, disconnect the battery ground cable, pop the switch out of the console panel, disconnect the wiring harness, and install a new OEM switch.
Dealer Intervention
If the code persists after releasing the switch and attempting regeneration, or if the system has escalated to a Level 4 soot load (limp mode/engine derate), the DPF may be locked out to prevent a fire hazard. At this point, a forced regeneration via Kubota dealer software or a physical DPF cleaning/replacement is required.
