Kubota E:9007 – Engine ECU (Engine Control Unit): Requirement for DPF regeneration
Issue description
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) has reached a soot accumulation level that requires a parked regeneration (burn-off), but the system is unable to start the process because the DPF Inhibit Switch is currently activated.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- SVL65-2
- SVL75-2
- SVL90-2
- SVL95-2
- SVL95-2s
- SVL97-2
- SSV65
- SSV75
- SVL110-3
Check the cause
Check the DPF Inhibit Switch to ensure it has not been accidentally pressed or left in the 'Inhibit' (off/cancel) position.
Check Engine Coolant Temperature (must be above 65°C / 149°F for regeneration to start).
Check DPF Temperature (base temperature must be above 250°C).
Check Engine RPM (engine must be capable of reaching above 1200 RPM).
Check for concurrent active exhaust sensor codes (e.g., E:9206 for DOC outlet temp) that might be hard-faulting the ECU and preventing regeneration.
Repair steps
Relocate the Machine
Move the loader to a safe, well-ventilated outdoor area. The exhaust gases will reach extremely high temperatures (upwards of 1100°F) during regeneration, so keep away from people, animals, and flammable materials.
Prep for Parked Regen
Apply the parking brake, lock the hydraulic system, ensure auxiliary hydraulics/PTO are off, and return the engine throttle to idle.
Release the Inhibit Switch
Toggle the DPF Inhibit Switch to the 'Off/Release' position to allow the ECU to take control.
Restart the Engine
If the engine automatically shut down to protect the DPF, restart it now.
Initiate Regeneration
Wait for the Parked Regeneration switch on the dash to start flashing, then press the switch. The light will remain solid.
Wait for Completion
The engine RPM will automatically rise. Do not touch any levers, the throttle, or switches during this cycle, as doing so will interrupt the process. The cycle typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Address Hardware Failures
If the regeneration switch flashes but pressing it does nothing, or if the E:9007 code persists after releasing the inhibit switch, the DPF Inhibit Switch itself may have failed internally. Test the switch for continuity and replace it if faulty.
