Kubota E:9115 – Engine ECU: Engine overheat warning and Emission level caution
Issue description
The engine is experiencing an overheating condition. As a protective measure to manage emissions and prevent severe engine damage, the Engine Control Unit (ECU) commands the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ECR) valve to begin closing, which disables the EGR system's normal functionality. Engine output and acceleration may also be limited.

Check the cause
Check the coolant temperature gauge on the instrument panel to confirm if it is near the [H] (Hot) mark, indicating active overheating.
Visually inspect the front grill, radiator, and oil cooler for airflow restrictions such as heavy soiling, grease, dust, or grass.
Ensure the engine coolant is at the proper level in the overflow reservoir and radiator (only check when the engine is cool).
Repair steps
Discontinue the Job
Immediately interrupt your work.
Cool Down the Engine
Reduce the engine RPM to idle. Do not shut the engine off immediately when it is extremely hot; let it idle to circulate coolant and reduce the temperature gradually.
Clear Blockages
Once the engine is turned off and safe to work around, thoroughly clean the grill, radiator, and oil cooler of any debris or clogs.
Test Operation
Restart the machine and monitor the coolant temperature gauge.
Address Mechanical Failures
If the radiator is clean and coolant levels are full but the machine still overheats and throws code E:9115, the issue is likely a stuck thermostat, a failing water pump, or a faulty coolant temperature sensor.
Replace Faulty Components
Drain the coolant, replace the thermostat or temperature sensor, refill the system, and bleed any air.
Dealer Intervention
If the 'E:9115' code still appears after clearing the coolers and checking the gauge, you must immediately contact your local dealer for advanced ECU diagnostics.
