Kubota P0182 – Engine ECU: Fuel Temperature Sensor Abnormality (Low side)

The system detects a ground short circuit in the sensor or its wiring harness, causing the voltage of the fuel temperature sensor to drop to 0.1 V or less for 2.8 seconds or more. This limits engine output and worsens exhaust gas emissions.

   Verify the machine's battery voltage is normal, as low system voltage can skew sensor readings.

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool and check live data for the fuel temperature sensor, looking for a constant default reading (e.g., -40°C or -20°C).

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the fuel temperature sensor for corrosion, loose pins, or rodent damage.

   Backprobe the sensor connector with the key ON to check for a reference voltage; if 0.1 V or lower, test the harness for a short to ground.

   Remove the sensor and measure its resistance at known temperatures, comparing it to Kubota's OEM temperature/resistance chart.

   Turn off the key switch and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the fuel temperature sensor, which is typically mounted on the high-pressure fuel supply pump or fuel rail.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

   If diagnostic tests revealed a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the connector pigtail.

   If the wiring is intact and the sensor failed the resistance test, unthread the faulty fuel temperature sensor from its housing.

   Install the new OEM fuel temperature sensor and tighten it to factory specifications.

   Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery.

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the P0182 fault code. Start the engine and verify that the code does not return and that the engine no longer suffers from limited output.
