Kubota P0183 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Engine ECU: FT gasoline high (Fuel Temperature High)
Issue description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the fuel temperature sensor circuit has a high voltage input, which typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground, or a sensor that is out of calibration.

Check the cause
Verify if the machine has been operating in extreme temperatures (frigid cold or extreme heat), which can trigger a temporary fault.
Inspect the fuel temperature sensor wiring harness for disconnections, damage, or a short to ground.
Use a diagnostic scan tool and a mechanical gauge to verify that the actual fuel supply pressure and temperature are within normal operating ranges.
Compare the fuel temperature reading on the scan tool to the ambient temperature on a cold engine to check sensor calibration.
Rule out secondary components such as a stuck or leaking fuel injector or a failed O2 sensor.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn the key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the fuel temperature sensor. On WG1605 engines, it is often integrated into the Direct Electronic Pressure Regulator (DEPR) or fuel rail assembly.
Test the Circuit
Disconnect the sensor harness. Use a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) to check for continuity in the wiring between the sensor connector and the ECM. Repair any broken wires or shorts to ground.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the sensor is reading out of calibration, remove the faulty fuel temperature sensor. Install the new OEM sensor and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the wiring harness and battery. Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the machine, clear the P0183 / SPN 174 DTC, and run the engine to verify the code does not return.
