Kubota P0222 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Engine ECU: TPS2 Signal Voltage Low (J1939 SPN: 3673, FMI: 4)
Issue description
The Engine Control Module has detected that the voltage signal from Throttle Position Sensor 2 (TPS2) is lower than 0.200 V for longer than 0.5 seconds while the engine is running.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- WG1605-E3
- WG1605-G-E3
- WG1605-L-E3
- WG1605-GL-E3
- WG1903
- WG2503
- WG972-GL-E3F
- WG972-E4
Check the cause
Verify that the TPS is receiving its 5.00 V reference feed from the ECU
Check the TPS signal circuit in the engine harness for an open circuit or a short to ground
Check for a poor system ground connection at the throttle body harness
Ensure that the engine harness wiring and connectors to the throttle body are fully seated, secure, and free of corrosion or bent pins
Repair steps
Safety First
Ensure the machine is parked on a level surface, the engine is shut off, and the key is removed. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Inspect and Repair Wiring
Based on the diagnostic checks, repair any broken wires, shorts to ground, or loose connections in the throttle position sensor harness.
Clear and Retest
If a wiring issue was found and repaired, clear the fault codes using the Kubota Gasoline Service Tool (KGST) / DST-i interface and run the engine to see if the code returns.
Replace the Throttle Body
If the wiring, ground, and 5.00V reference are all good but the code persists, the internal TPS is faulty. You must replace the entire Electronic Throttle Body assembly.
