Kubota P0265 – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU): Injector Driver #2 Short-To-Power
Issue description
This code indicates a high-voltage short circuit in the control circuit for the cylinder #2 fuel injector. The system detects that the voltage between the injector and the control module is abnormally high, or that the injector coil has shorted internally.
Applies to these machines

- M7060
- M8540
- M9540
- M108S
- M100GX

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the ECM and the #2 fuel injector for open circuits, shorts, or physical damage (chafing against engine components)
Ensure the electrical connector at the #2 injector is securely fastened and free of corrosion or fluid intrusion
Use a multimeter to test the internal resistance of the #2 fuel injector coil (a reading outside OEM specifications indicates an internal short)
With the key on, check the voltage on the injector driver circuit to verify if it is shorted to a power source (battery voltage)
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Isolate the Fault
If the wiring harness tested faulty during diagnostics, repair the shorted wire or replace the injector harness section.
Replace the Injector
If the wiring is intact and the injector coil is internally shorted (the most common cause for P0265), remove the fuel lines and retaining brackets for cylinder #2.
Install New Injector
Install the replacement fuel injector with new O-rings and copper sealing washers. Torque the hold-down clamp and fuel lines to OEM specifications.
Reassemble and Bleed
Reconnect the electrical connector. Reconnect the battery. Prime the fuel system to remove air.
Clear Codes
Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the P0265 code from the ECM. (Note: Depending on the engine model, you may need to program the new injector's QR compensation code into the ECM using a Kubota diagnostic tool).
