Kubota P0563 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Battery Voltage (VBAT) High
Issue description
The system detects an abnormally high voltage condition (typically 16 Volts or more for 1 second or longer), often caused by a faulty alternator voltage regulator or an external surge such as an improper jump-start. The machine may enter limp mode.

Check the cause
Verify the Battery: Use a digital multimeter to test the static battery voltage. It should normally rest around 12.6V. Ensure the battery wasn't recently subjected to a high-voltage jump-start, which can temporarily trigger this code.
Test the Charging System: Start the engine and measure the voltage at the battery terminals. Normal operating voltage should be between 13.5V and 14.5V (or broadly 8 to 16V per Kubota ECU specs). If the voltage spikes to 16V or higher while running, the alternator is overcharging.
Check ECU Terminals: Using a multimeter, measure the voltage directly at the ECU connectors to rule out wiring issues. Measure between the battery (+) terminal (e.g., Terminal 4) and the power ground (-) terminals (e.g., Terminals 1 and 2).
Inspect the Wiring Harness: Check the wiring harness between the battery, alternator, and ECU for open circuits, short circuits to a power source, or physical damage.

Safety First
Always disconnect the negative battery cable before working on the electrical system to prevent accidental shorts or damage to the ECU.
Address the Alternator/Regulator
If the charging system test confirmed overcharging (16V+), replace either the standalone voltage regulator or the entire alternator assembly.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the alternator tests fine but the ECU is receiving high voltage due to a short circuit in the harness, locate the damaged section of the wiring harness and repair or replace it.
Clear the Fault Code
Once the mechanical repair is complete, reconnect the battery. Clear the P0563 code using Kubota's Diagmaster software connected to the ECU, or via the dashboard 'Target Mode' (error information clear mode) on equipped tractor models.
