Kubota P0601 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Microprocessor Failure-FLASH / Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error

Internal hardware failure within the control module, specifically a memory access failure or checksum error in the flash memory, which initiates a Power Derate 2 state.

   Check for battery abnormalities or system voltage spikes (high side) that could cause the ECM to malfunction

   Check the ECM connectors for looseness, poor connection, bent pins, corrosion, or chemical damage

   Connect the Kubota Diagnostic Tool (KGST or EDIS) or a compatible scan tool, turn the ignition ON, and verify if communication is possible. If communication fails repeatedly, the ECM is likely dead

   Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position and engage the start safety switch.

   Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Engine Control Module (ECM) and carefully disconnect the sealed wiring harness connectors.

   Unbolt and remove the faulty ECM.

   Install the new or remanufactured ECM and secure the mounting bolts.

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the sealed connectors click fully into place to prevent moisture intrusion.

   Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Connect the Kubota Diagnostic Tool (KGST or EDIS) and manually erase the code.

   Because P0601 is a "Never forget" code, it will not clear itself even after the hardware is replaced. You must manually erase the code using the diagnostic software.

   Start the engine and verify that the MIL is off and the engine no longer operates in a derated state.
