Kubota P1612 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module (ECM): Microprocessor Failure-RTI 1
Issue description
Internal microprocessor error. The control module performs internal self-checks every time an instruction is executed; if the microprocessor fails to satisfy these checks, the fault is triggered.

Check the cause
Verify the code is active (preconditions are 'Key On' or 'Engine Running')
Check the ECU's 90-pin connector to ensure it is secure
Verify the module is receiving clean battery voltage and solid grounds to rule out severe voltage spikes or drops
Attempt to manually clear the code using the Kubota Diagnostic System (DST/KGST). If it returns immediately upon cycling the key, the microprocessor has permanently failed
Repair steps
Turn the machine's key switch to the OFF position and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical arcing.
Locate the Engine Control Module (ECM) and carefully disconnect the sealed 90-pin wiring harness connector(s).
Unbolt and remove the faulty ECU from its mounting bracket.
Install the replacement Kubota ECU and secure the mounting hardware.
Reconnect the 90-pin harness connector(s), ensuring the weather seals are intact and the connector is fully seated.
Reconnect the battery.
Connect a Kubota diagnostic tool (DST/KGST) to the machine's diagnostic port. You will need to program/flash the new blank ECU with the correct engine map data for your specific machine application and manually clear any residual P1612 codes.
