Kubota P1614 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / ECU: Microprocessor Failure-RTI 3

This fault code indicates an internal microprocessor error has occurred within the engine's control module. When this condition is set, the system will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), disable the Adaptive Learn (AL) system, and force a "Power Derate 2" state to protect the engine. This is a "Never forget" code that must be manually erased.

   Check battery and power supply to ensure cranking voltage does not drop below 9.0 VDC, and check the inline fuse in the ECU battery power circuit

   Inspect the ECM wiring harness for loose connectors, corrosion, or short circuits that could cause erratic voltage spikes

   Attempt a manual reset using Kubota diagnostic software (KGST, EDIS, or GCP) to erase the code

   Verify ECU failure by checking if the code immediately returns after a manual reset and a power cycle (Key On)

   Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Engine Control Module (ECM) on the engine or equipment chassis.

   Carefully release the locking tabs and disconnect the main wiring harness connectors from the ECM.

   Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECM to its bracket and remove the faulty unit.

   Install the replacement ECM and tighten the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connectors click securely into place.

   Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Connect the Kubota diagnostic tool (KGST/EDIS) to flash/program the new ECM if required for your specific machine application, and clear any residual historical fault codes.
