Kubota P1615 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module (ECM): Microprocessor Failure - A/D

Internal microprocessor error within the control module, specifically related to the Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter. Triggers a Power Derate 2 or system shutdown.

   Verify battery voltage to ensure the battery is fully charged and providing a stable 12V+ supply, as low voltage or voltage spikes can cause internal processor faults to trigger erroneously.

   Backprobe the ECU connector to verify that the module is receiving proper power and that the ground circuits have near-zero resistance to the chassis ground.

   Disconnect the ECU and visually inspect the wiring harness and pins for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Use a diagnostic scanner to clear the code and cycle the key. If P1615 returns immediately upon Key On, the ECU is internally shorted or failed and must be replaced.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate ECU

   Locate the Engine ECU (mounting location varies by machine, but it is typically mounted near the engine or on the firewall).

   Disconnect ECU

   Carefully release the locking tabs and disconnect the main wiring harness connectors from the ECU.

   Remove ECU

   Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to its bracket and remove the faulty module.

   Install new ECU

   Install the new OEM Kubota ECU and tighten the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect wiring

   Reconnect the wiring harness connectors, ensuring the locking tabs click securely into place.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Program ECU

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the machine. You may need to perform an initialization/calibration procedure or flash the ECU with the correct software for your specific machine configuration.

   Clear codes

   Clear any historical DTCs and cycle the key to verify P1615 does not return.
