Manitou A10004 – MMI: Brake System Fault
Issue description
The fault code A10004 indicates a brake system fault, most commonly triggered by a low brake fluid level within the braking circuit. The machine's control system has detected this condition, which requires immediate attention to ensure the braking system's proper function and safety.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- MT-X 1440
- MT-X 1840
Check the cause
Visually inspect the brake fluid reservoir to check for a low fluid level
Carefully inspect the entire braking circuit, including lines, hoses, calipers, and the master cylinder, for any signs of fluid leaks
Perform a cabling check by inspecting the wiring and connectors between the brake fluid level sensor and the main computer (MMI/MP1) for damage, corrosion, or loose connections
Repair steps
Refill fluid and repair leaks
If the brake fluid is low, refill the reservoir to the correct level using the manufacturer-specified fluid type. If a leak is found, repair or replace the leaking component. Bleed the brake system after repair to remove any air that has entered the system.
Test and replace fluid level sensor
If the fluid level is correct and no leaks are found, test the brake fluid level sensor for correct operation. Replace the sensor if it is faulty.
Repair wiring harness
If the sensor is functional, trace the wiring harness back to the control unit. Check for continuity and any short circuits to ground or power. Repair any damaged wiring.
Clear fault code and test
Use the machine's diagnostic menu to clear the fault codes from the MMI/computer. Start the machine and operate the brakes to ensure the fault does not reappear and that the braking system is functioning correctly.
