Massey Ferguson 0.0.39 – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor, High Voltage (Dash)

The control module is receiving an electrical signal from the clutch pedal position sensor (transducer/potentiometer) that exceeds the maximum expected voltage threshold. This typically indicates a short circuit to power (+12V), a broken ground wire, or an internally failed sensor. When this code is active, the tractor may experience erratic shifting, harsh/jumpy clutch engagement, or a complete loss of drive.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal assembly for rub points, pinched wires, or damaged insulation that could cause a short to power (+12V).

   Disconnect the clutch pedal sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.

   Test the Bottom-of-Clutch (BOC) Switch for proper continuity when the pedal is fully depressed.

   If available, use Massey Ferguson's Wintest diagnostic software to monitor the live voltage sweep of the clutch pedal sensor. If the voltage is pegged at maximum regardless of pedal position, the sensor is likely shorted internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the Pedal Box

   Remove the lower dash/console trim panels to access the clutch pedal assembly and the sensor mounting bracket.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Unplug the electrical connector from the clutch pedal sensor (and/or the Bottom of Clutch switch, depending on which failed the diagnostic test). Unbolt the sensor from its mounting pivot.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the replacement sensor/switch into the pedal assembly. Ensure the mechanical linkage or fork aligns correctly with the pedal pivot.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the wiring harness back in and reinstall the trim panels. Reconnect the battery.

   Mandatory Calibration

   Perform a clutch pedal sensor calibration anytime the sensor, clutch switch, or instrument panel is replaced. This teaches the Dash controller the new minimum and maximum voltage values for the pedal's travel. Failure to calibrate will result in jumpy clutch engagement or continued error codes.
