   Check for accompanying codes (such as 0.0.49 or 0.0.4A) to determine if the issue is isolated to the dash or is a broader network failure.

   Inspect Battery and Grounds: Verify that the battery voltage to the dash is within specification and check the main cab and chassis ground connections.

   Wiring Harness Inspection: Inspect the instrument panel harness for chafing, pinched wires, or rodent damage.

   Connector Check: Access the back of the dash module and check the main electrical connectors for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress.

   CAN Bus Resistance Test: With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance between the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the dash connector to verify the integrity of the CAN bus terminating resistors (typically should read around 60 ohms).

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Dash Module

   Remove the steering column shrouds and the retaining screws holding the instrument cluster trim panel in place.

   Carefully unplug the wiring harness connectors from the rear of the dash module. Spray the connectors with a high-quality electrical contact cleaner and allow them to dry.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken CAN wire or damaged pin in the instrument panel harness, splice and heat-shrink the broken wire, or repin the connector.

   Replace the Dash Module

   If the wiring harness and voltages test perfectly but the CAN communication issue persists, the CAN transceiver inside the dash module has likely failed. Install a new instrument cluster.

   Reassembly and Clearing Codes

   Reconnect the dash module, reinstall the trim panels, and reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 0.0.44 fault code. Run the tractor to verify the code does not return.
