Massey Ferguson 0.0.5E – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With Signal Voltage From Front Axle Steering Sensor High Voltage
Issue description
The Wheel Angle Steering Sensor (WAS) or Front Axle Position Sensor provides the electronic systems with the precise angle and position of the front wheels. A "High Voltage" error typically indicates a short to power in the sensor's circuit, a faulty sensor, or a wiring harness issue.

Check the cause
Locate the Wheel Angle Steering Sensor (WAS) on the front axle, typically mounted on the left-hand front axle king pin or on a bracket behind the front axle.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor for a short to power.
Inspect the sensor connector for moisture intrusion, dust, or corrosion from hydraulic fluid and road salt, as moisture is a common cause of failure.
Check the sensor housing and its linkage/brackets to ensure they are intact and not physically damaged by field debris.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Removal
Carefully disconnect the wiring harness from the front axle position sensor. Unbolt the sensor and its linkage from the front axle bracket. Note: Handle the sensor with care, as it is a precision electronic instrument.
Installation
Mount the new sensor into position. Ensure that the new connections are completely clean and properly sealed to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Calibration
Using the tractor's console, calibrate the WAS 'steering lock to lock range' and set the 'CENTER' position. This calibration is held by the PVED controller and is mandatory for the guidance and steering systems to function correctly.
