Massey Ferguson 0.1.3C – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With The Signal Voltage From Forward/Reverse Lever Signal Voltage Low
Issue description
The controller is receiving a signal voltage from the left-hand Forward/Reverse shuttle lever (designated in OEM schematics as component X56 - Power Control lever) that is below the expected minimum threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to ground, a broken signal wire, a disconnected wiring harness, or an internal failure of the switches/sensors inside the lever assembly itself.

Check the cause
Remove the steering column shrouds and visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the base of the Power Control lever for disconnected plugs, chafed wires shorting against the steering column, or pushed-out pins
Using a multimeter, verify that the lever is receiving the correct reference voltage and has a solid ground connection from the Dash module
Test the signal wire between the lever connector and the instrument panel for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to ground (which directly causes the Voltage Low condition)
Monitor the signal voltage output from the lever while moving it through its positions (Forward, Neutral, Reverse). If the voltage remains low or drops out entirely despite intact wiring, the internal sensor has failed
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Access the Component
Remove the plastic shrouds/covers around the steering column to expose the base of the Power Control lever (X56) on the left side.
Disconnect
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the lever assembly.
Remove
Unscrew/unbolt the mounting hardware securing the lever assembly to the steering column and slide the faulty lever out.
Install New Part
Mount the replacement Power Control lever into position and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the new lever, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
Reassemble
Reinstall the steering column covers.
Test
Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored 0.1.3C fault code from the Dash display, and test the forward, neutral, and reverse functions to ensure the transmission engages properly and the code does not return.
