0.1.41

Massey Ferguson 0.1.41 – Dash (Instrument Panel): Tractor Forward Speed Is Too Fast

Issue description

This condition occurs when the controller receives a speed signal that exceeds the maximum plausible threshold or expected working range. This is typically caused by a malfunctioning transmission/forward speed sensor sending erratic signals, a short circuit in the sensor wiring, or incorrect sensor gap/calibration.

Applies to these machines

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL
  • 5713SL

  • 7726
  • 7726S

Check the cause

  1. Connect the tractor to Wintest software to perform diagnostic tests and monitor live data from the forward speed sensor to confirm erratic or implausible readings.

  2. Check the speed sensor wiring harness for rub points, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.

  3. Inspect the sensor connector for moisture, dirt, or corrosion.

  4. Check the sensor's mounting area on the transmission housing to ensure the sensor gap is correct and that the magnetic pickup is free of metallic shavings or debris.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Locate the forward/transmission speed sensor on the transmission housing.

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining bolt and carefully pull the sensor out of the housing.

  4. Clean and Inspect

Clean the mounting port to ensure no dirt falls into the transmission.

  5. Installation

Install the new OEM speed sensor. Ensure it is seated correctly to maintain the proper working range/gap. Secure the retaining bolt and reconnect the wiring harness.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the Wintest diagnostic tool and clear the 0.1.41 fault code from the Dash controller.

  7. Test Drive

Operate the tractor while monitoring the dash speedometer and live diagnostic data to confirm the forward speed is reading accurately and the code does not return.
