Massey Ferguson 0.1.4B – Dash: Issue With Hand Throttle Circuit, Open Circuit (Dash)

The hand throttle potentiometer signal voltage has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold (usually 0V), indicating an open circuit. This happens when the electrical connection is physically broken, unplugged, or the internal track of the potentiometer has failed.

   Visually inspect the hand throttle lever wiring pigtail and connector on the right-hand console for broken wires, backed-out pins, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the sensor and perform a harness continuity test from the hand throttle connector back to the Dash module. Ensure there is a good ground and a 5V reference signal reaching the sensor plug.

   Perform a sensor sweep test by measuring the resistance or voltage output of the hand throttle potentiometer while slowly moving the lever from idle to full throttle. If the multimeter reads infinite resistance (OL) or voltage drops to 0V, the sensor is internally open.

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the necessary plastic trim pieces on the right-hand console or armrest to expose the base of the hand throttle lever mechanism.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the hand throttle potentiometer. Remove the retaining screws or clips holding the sensor (or the entire throttle assembly, depending on the exact part revision) to the console.

   Installation

   Mount the new hand throttle potentiometer or assembly into place and secure the fasteners. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the console trim panels and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   Perform a hand throttle calibration through the instrument panel's diagnostic menu or using a dealer diagnostic tool so the Dash learns the new idle and full-throttle voltage limits.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the 0.1.4B fault code from the Dash module and test the tractor to ensure smooth engine RPM response.
