Massey Ferguson 0.2.4A – Dash (Instrument Panel / Cluster): CAN BUS Message Issue From EEM Engine Module (Dash)

Communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN bus). Specifically, the dashboard is either not receiving the expected data messages from the Electronic Engine Module (EEM), or the messages being received are corrupted/invalid.

   Verify battery and alternator charging voltage, as low voltage can cause modules to drop off the CAN network

   Check the main engine relays and EEM fuses to ensure the EEM is receiving proper power and ground

   Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring between the EEM and the Dash for chafing, breaks, or heat damage

   Disconnect the harnesses at the EEM and the Dash to inspect for pushed-out pins, bent terminals, corrosion, or moisture intrusion

   With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins (should read approximately 60 ohms)

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) using WinEEM to check if the tool can communicate with the EEM

   Disconnect Power

   Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before performing electrical repairs or unplugging control modules.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed an open or short circuit in the CAN lines, repair the damaged section of the wiring harness using OEM-approved splice kits, or replace the affected harness section.

   Clean Connections

   If corrosion is found at the EEM or Dash connectors, clean the pins thoroughly with contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease before reconnecting.

   Module Replacement (If Necessary)

   If the wiring is perfectly intact, power/ground is verified, but the EEM is completely unresponsive to the AGCO EDT, replace the EEM. If the EEM communicates fine with the diagnostic tool but the Dash still logs the code and fails to display engine data, replace the Instrument Panel.

   Reassemble and Reprogram

   Reconnect the battery. If a new EEM or Dash was installed, it will require EOL (End of Line) programming and parameter configuration using the AGCO EDT.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the inactive fault codes from the system and test-run the tractor to ensure code 0.2.4A does not return.
