Massey Ferguson 00.0.37 – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor

Issue description

The controller detects that the voltage signal coming from the electronic clutch pedal position sensor is erratic, missing, or out of the expected range. This can result in harsh clutch engagement, erratic shifting, or a tractor that refuses to move.

Applies to these machines

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL
  • 5713SL
  • T4
  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal sensor for rub points, pinched wires, or shorts to ground

  2. Check the sensor's electrical connector for dirt, moisture, or corrosion, which can skew the voltage signal

  3. Ensure the sensor is securely mounted to the pedal box and that the mechanical linkage/fork actuating the sensor hasn't come loose or broken

  4. Check the 'Bottom of Clutch' switch located in the pedal box, as a failure here can sometimes mimic or contribute to pedal position faults

Repair steps

  1. Access the Pedal Box

Locate the clutch pedal position sensor (transducer) mounted on the clutch pedal assembly.

  2. Remove the Sensor

Disconnect the tractor's battery. Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor and unbolt the sensor/fork assembly from the pedal linkage.

  3. Install the New Sensor

Mount the replacement sensor, ensuring the mechanical linkage aligns correctly with the pedal's travel path. Secure the mounting hardware and plug in the weatherproof connector.

  4. Perform Sensor Calibration

A clutch pedal sensor calibration must be carried out via the instrument panel anytime the clutch pedal potentiometer or clutch switch is replaced. If you only have a jumpy clutch and no hard part failure, performing this calibration alone will often fix the issue.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Electronic Clutch Pedal Position Sensor

    4290395M4

Replaces older revisions M1, M2, M3. Fits a wide range of modern MF tractors including the 4700, 5700 SL, 6700, and 7700 series.

  • Clutch Pedal Potentiometer / Sensor

    3784361M1

    Commonly listed for 4707, 4708, 4709, 5710, and 5711 models.

  • AGCO Clutch Pedal Position Sensor

    ACW0926390

Alternative part number for 4700 and 5700 series.

  • Clutch Pedal Switch

    S.170393

Use if the bottom-of-clutch switch is the culprit rather than the potentiometer.
