Massey Ferguson 00.0.44 – Dash Module: CAN BUS Message Issue (Dash)

Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, specifically involving messages sent to or from the dashboard instrument cluster. The system is failing to receive expected data packets, which can disrupt the display of vital tractor information.

   Check for accompanying codes such as 00.0.45 (Problem With Dash Configuration) or 0.0.30 (Issue With Alternator Charging Voltage), as low or erratic system voltage is a leading cause of CAN bus communication drops.

   Verify that the battery is fully charged and the alternator is outputting the correct voltage.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Dash module for chafed wires, pinched cables behind the steering column, or loose ground connections.

   Disconnect the main plug at the rear of the instrument cluster and inspect for bent pins, corrosion, or moisture ingress.

   With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the diagnostic port. It should read approximately 60 ohms. A reading of 120 ohms indicates a broken terminating resistor or wiring segment.

   Disconnect Power

   Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on the tractor's electrical system to prevent short circuits.

   Access the Dash Module

   Remove the steering column shrouds and dashboard trim panels to access the rear of the instrument cluster.

   Clean and Reseat Connectors

   Unplug the wiring harness from the Dash module. Spray the connectors with a high-quality electrical contact cleaner. Allow it to dry, apply a small amount of dielectric grease, and firmly reseat the connector.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Using an AGCO diagnostic tool (or the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu, if equipped), clear the active fault codes.

   Test Operation

   Start the tractor and monitor the dash. If the code 00.0.44 returns immediately, the internal CAN transceiver in the Dash module has likely failed, or the module has lost its configuration.

   Module Replacement/Reprogramming

   If the wiring is verified good, the Dash module must be replaced. Note that a new Dash module will require dealer programming using AGCO Diagnostic Software to configure the unit to the tractor's specific options and sync the engine hours.
