Massey Ferguson 00.0.49 – Dash (Instrument Panel / Cluster): CAN BUS Message Issue From EEM Engine Module (Dash)

Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the system is failing to receive or validate expected data messages broadcasted by the Electronic Engine Module (EEM).

   Check if other modules (like Transmission or Linkage) are logging CAN bus errors to determine if the failure is global or isolated to the EEM

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Dash and the EEM for chafed wires, corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-out pins

   Measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins with the battery disconnected (should read approximately 60 ohms; 120 ohms indicates an open circuit, 0 ohms indicates a short)

   Verify that the EEM is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground connection

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery before probing the CAN bus or unplugging modules to prevent electrical spikes.

   Clean and Reseat Connectors

   Disconnect the main harness at the EEM and the Dash. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and firmly reseat them.

   Repair Harness

   If the resistance test (above) failed, trace the CAN High and CAN Low wires between the Dash and the EEM. Repair any broken wires or short circuits found in the harness.

   Test the System

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool (like the AGCO WinEEM3s/EEM4 Service Tool).

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring is 100% intact, the power/ground to the EEM is good, and the code immediately returns, the EEM is likely failing to broadcast, or the Dash's internal CAN transceiver has failed. The faulty module will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.
