   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal sensor in the pedal box for chafed wires, damaged insulation, or a disconnected plug that could cause an open ground or a short to a 12V power source.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground. Test the signal wire to ensure it is not shorted to battery voltage.

   Use a diagnostic tool to read the live voltage of the clutch potentiometer. The normal operating range is typically 0.5V to 4.5V. If it reads a constant 5V or higher, the sensor is likely open internally or shorted.

   Inspect the Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch in the pedal box, as it is a notorious failure point that can cause a sudden loss of drive and trigger dash errors alongside the potentiometer.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts while working in the pedal box.

   Access the Pedal Box

   Locate the clutch pedal sensor (potentiometer) assembly attached to the clutch pedal linkage.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Unbolt the retaining hardware and remove the faulty potentiometer. (If the BOC switch was also diagnosed as faulty, remove it at this time).

   Install the New Part

   Mount the new OEM clutch pedal sensor and securely reconnect the wiring harness.

   Perform Clutch Pedal Calibration

   According to Massey Ferguson service manuals, a clutch pedal calibration must be carried out every time the clutch pedal switch, potentiometer, or instrument panel is replaced. This is done via the tractor's dash menu or a diagnostic tool to relearn the Top of Clutch (TOC) and Bottom of Clutch (BOC) positions, ensuring smooth engagement and preventing jumpy take-offs.
